ALMAEER successfully conducted a thorough Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) and witnessed the Function Test of a second-hand jack-up Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) for our Client in UAE.
Our inspectors carried out a detailed assessment of the rig’s Structural integrity, Mechanical and Electrical systems, including Fire and Gas system, as well as a review of the Explosion Proof (Ex) equipment and overall operational performance, verifying compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
The objective was to identify potential deficiencies, operational limitations, and maintenance requirements, providing our client with a detailed technical assessment to support an informed purchasing decision.
The Inspection encompassed the following activities to provide a clear understanding of the unit’s operational condition, safety status, and suitability for its intended use, prior to purchase:
- Review of available technical documentation, drawings, maintenance records, and class certification.
- Verification of compliance with relevant statutory and classification requirements.
- Operational testing of key drilling systems, including the Drawworks, Mud Pumps, Power Generation, and Lifting Equipment.
- Verification of safety and emergency systems such as Fire Pumps, Alarms, and Evacuation systems.
- Compilation of a comprehensive inspection report, including findings, photographs, and recommendations for repairs or maintenance.
- Classification of findings based on severity and potential impact on operational safety and reliability.
- Review all areas that would impact purchase price.
